Chocolate Cake Martini

Chocolate Cake Martini

Like many people, I have a weakness for chocolate.  At any given point in time, there is chocolate in my house, purse, and car.  There is a shelf in one of my cupboards...okay, multiple shelves that are designated specifically for sweets.  I like chocolate mostly just by itself, although, sometimes I like with with almonds, caramel, sea salt, ice cream, milk or pretzels.  Haha, yeah, ok....I've got a bit of a sweet tooth.  I blame my father. If you love chocolate as much as I do, this martini is gonna rock your world!!  The first time I made this, I had my entire drink down in less than a minute.  I had to quickly remind myself that this is mostly alcohol, and if I didn't stop myself, I would soon be on the floor! This drink is quite easy to make.  You'll need a martini shaker, Continue Reading...

Creamy Hot Buttered Rum

Creamy Hot Buttered Rum

Ok, folks....its time to get ready.  I'm not talking about getting candy or costumes ready.  Nor am I speaking of pumpkins or spooky Halloween decorations.  Its time to get your mental health in check.  You know that those kids of yours will have meltdowns, sugar highs & lows, sibling fights over how much candy someone did or didn't get, and the ultimate monster screams when its time to call it a night, and a certain little boy or girl wants to go on to the next block for some additional sugar accumulation.  How is it that we can prepare for this?  One word...Alcohol! So, I kidd in good fun, however, you know just as well as I do that by the time you get home from trick-or-treating, and finally get your lil' goblins in bed you will most definitely be ready for a drink!  This Continue Reading...

Nutella Hazelnut Coffee

Nutella Hazelnut Coffee

Northern Virginia, is absolutely breathtaking in the fall.  The weather is mild, and beautiful - the summer humidity of the mid-Atlantic subsides as the days get shorter and cooler.  The leaves along the Potomac and the foothills of the Shenandoah's reach their peak right about now, and the colors are gorgeous.  When the sun hits the trees just right the golds, oranges and reds light up like fireworks in July. Unfortunately, today was not one of those beautiful, color struck days.  It rained, and rained, and then rained some more.  I do have to say...I kind of enjoy these days, too.  The cool weather, makes me want to put on some thick wool socks, cozy up with a blanket, a good book, and a nice, hot cup of coffee.  To embrace the cool fall day, I made one of these today - a Nutella Continue Reading...
