Iced Mocha Creames

Iced Mocha Creames

If you know me at all, you'll know that I'm a sucker for a good cup of coffee.  It's pretty much how I start every day.  If it didn't keep me awake at night, I could easily drink it all day long.  I normally take my coffee with a bit of sweetener and a splash of cream - just enough to give it a nice, creamy texture.  I liken a good cup of coffee to warm, comforting hug in a cup.  ;) There's just one small problem...when it gets hot, like it is now in Northern Virginia, a hot cup of coffee when the heat and humidity is at 80+ first thing in the morning...yeah, that hot cup of coffee isn't so desirable.  Solution: The oh so delicious Iced Mocha Cream! This is easily one of my favorite things to whip up in the blender.  Its really easy, takes just a minute or two, and just as Continue Reading...

Triple Chocolate Muffins

Chocolate for breakfast is always a good idea! A batch of these delicious Triple Chocolate Muffins includes both white and semi-sweet chocolate chips nestled in a moist, delicious cake-like batter!  It's the perfect way to enjoy some chocolaty deliciousness first thing in the morning! Triple Chocolate Muffins The past several days have been pretty rainy and dreary here.  Anytime its cool outside, there is nothing I love more than a great cup of coffee, and a fantastic muffin to go with it!  Muffins don't get any better than these Triple Chocolate Muffins! In my opinion, in order for a muffin to be especially great, it needs to have two things. First, a super-moist, cake-like batter. Life is not worth living if a muffin is dry and falls apart in the first bite. Second, it must have Continue Reading...

Lemon Blueberry Coffee Cake

Lemon Blueberry Coffee Cake

The most amazing coffee cake! Loaded with lemon flavor, and packed with blueberries, its the perfect breakfast or brunch treat! As a little girl my very first introduction to coffee cake was something very unorthodox.  My mom would take a couple leftover pieces of cornbread and split them open in a bowl, she would then proceed to pour hot, brewed coffee over the cake.  I thought is was kinda weird, and I had no intention of trying her "coffee cake." As I got a little older, and mom was teaching me how to bake (probably something for 4-H), she asked if I would like to try a coffee cake.  I remember giving her a turned up nose, and saying "...but coffee cake is gross," thinking back to her coffee doused cornbread.  She then chuckled, and proceeded to clarify that the coffee Continue Reading...

Peanut Butter & Banana Smoothie

Peanut Butter & Banana Smoothie

How are mornings at your house?  If the answer is "rushed", "hectic", "chaotic" you're not alone.  This weekend was the dreaded daylight savings time, spring forward fiasco.  If you have school aged kids, you know exactly why I used the word "fiasco."  This time change puts a serious amount of stress on an already difficult morning routine.  Getting my child dressed, fed, and out the door is hard enough as it is, and then add sleep deprivation to all parties involved...well, you're lucky if everyone gets out the door without tears! I'm here to help...at least for getting you and your kids fed.  (As for the sleep deprivation, and getting dressed and whatnot, well, I don't have many solutions.)  :)  I do, however, have a quick, easy, healthy kid-friendly breakfast option that will Continue Reading...

The inspiration behind these Glazed Lemon Poppy Seed Muffins: Just down the Continue Reading...
