With the July 4th weekend just around the corner, it seems everyone is having some sort of BBQ, backyard cookout, or outdoor get-together. This always means great food, especially great burgers! This year, lets step-it-up by giving ALL of our guests a great burger. My Hawaiian Veggie Burgers are perfect for our guests that might not eat meat, or are watching what they eat.
This simple Hawaiian burger recipe is great paired with grilled pineapple and red onions. Here’s how these Hawaiian burgers are made:
My Hawaiian Veggie Burgers start with a delicious MorningStar Farms Grillers Prime patty. Not only do these taste fantastic, they’re perfect for those who may not eat meat, or are watching their diet. These MorningStar Farms Grillers Prime patties are fantastic on the grill, and pair wonderfully with the grilled pineapple and red onions.
I found all my ingredients – the sesame buns, pineapple, onion and of course the MorningStar Farms Grillers Prime patties – all at Target! Man, I love that place!
How to Grill these Hawaiian Burgers:
When grilling for your July 4th party, get these Grillers Prime patties on the grill along with your fresh pineapple, and onions. I preheated my gas grill, and added the patties, which where still frozen, and grilled for about 5 minutes per side.
The pineapple was also about 5 minutes per side, but the onions only need a few minutes before needing flipped, otherwise, they tend to burn. I also toasted my sesame burger buns on the top rack of the grill, and these only needed about 5 minutes to toast up nicely.
How to build this Hawaiian Burger Recipe:
In just ten short minutes, your burgers, pineapple and onions can come off the grill, and your ready to start building your burgers. You can either build these burgers yourself, or set up a buffet where your guests can add the toppings they like to their burgers.
Having them already assembled works works well, as you don’t have to worry about your guests fumbling for multiple toppings and balancing a plate all at the same time.
Start with your bottom piece of toasted bun, then add a small leaf of lettuce, and top with your MorningStar Farms Grillers Prime patty. I have to say these cooked up perfectly. Even though I’m not a vegetarian, and eat meat often, these were fantastic!! They’re nice to have on hand when you want a light dinner, or something quick to throw on the grill.
Atop of the patty, add a slice of red onion, and a couple pieces of grilled pineapple. Top with your favorite BBQ sauce if you prefer. I used my Sweet & Spicy Chipotle BBQ Sauce, which paired perfectly with the sweet flavors of the pineapple.
All of these flavors pair wonderfully together! Once the pineapple hits the grill, it caramelizes making is sweeter and softer. Once its paired with the delicious grillers prime burger, it will make you want to go in for seconds!
You may want to get a few extra boxes of these MorningStar Farms patties, as you’ll have people lining up (vegetarians and meat-eaters alike!) for a taste of these gorgeous burgers!
