Sauteed Broccoli with Garlic


– 1 lb. broccoli crowns, trimmed into florets – 1 cup water – 2 Tablespoons olive oil – 1 Tablespoon minced garlic – 2 Tablespoons fresh squeezed lemon juice (juice of 1 lemon) – 1/4 teaspoon salt – 1/4 teaspoon pepper


Step 1

To a large skillet add the trimmed broccoli florets and the water. Cover the skillet with a lid. Heat over medium heat until the water begins to simmer.

Step 2

Steam the broccoli for 2-3 minutes. Remove from heat, drain off any excess water and transfer the steamed broccoli to a bowl and cover to keep warm.

Step 3

To the same skillet, add the olive oil and heat over medium high heat. Add the garlic and saute for 1-2 minutes or until light golden brown and fragrant.

Step 4

Add in the steamed broccoli and toss together in the garlic and oil for 1-2 minutes until lightly seared.

Step 5

Serve right away while hot. Enjoy!
