  • In a bowl, combine all the spices; chili powder, cumin, smoke paprika, oregano, pepper, onion powder, garlic salt, garlic powder and red pepper flakes.
  • Store spice mix in an airtight container. A small mason jar with a tight-fitting lid works well. Taco seasoning mix will last for up to six months.

Notes

For Use: Add two (2) tablespoons of the homemade taco seasoning to one lb. of ground or shredded meat. Add a 1/2 cup of water and 2 tablespoons of tomato paste and stir together over medium low heat until it comes to a simmer and the water has evaporated - about 3-5 minutes.
