Equipment

  • blender I LOVE my Blendtec Designer Series Blender. It's great for smoothies, frozen cocktails, coffee drinks and even muffin and pancake batter.
  • Milk Frother Fantastic for anyone looking to make coffee drinks at home!

Ingredients

Instructions

  • Brew coffee. Set aside. In microwave safe cup or mug, microwave milk until hot and steaming, approximately 90 seconds - 2 minutes.
  • Pour the coffee and hot milk into blender. Add the cocoa powder, sweetener and peppermint extract.
  • Making sure to vent your blender lid (Important and time you're blending hot liquid) so steam can escape, blend for 45 seconds to 1 minute or until ingredients are completely combined and becomes slightly frothy.
  • Pour into mug and enjoy right away while hot. Top with whipped cream, if desired.

Notes

VERY IMPORTANT: Make sure to vent the lid of your blender any time you are blending hot liquid. This is to make sure heat and steam can escape. If you don't do this, you'll have a small explosion of hot mocha everywhere!
Ingredient Substitutions:
  • Milk - I used unsweetened vanilla almond milk, however this recipe can accommodate most other milks, both dairy and plant based. Note that the nutrition content will change.
  • Coffee/Espresso - I have a Nespresso Virtuo machine that makes wonderful strong brewed coffee. You can also substitute fresh brewed espresso or instant espresso for a stronger mocha.
