  • In a large mixing bowl, add the room temperature cream cheese and butter. Beat with a hand or stand mixer at medium speed until completely combined and fluffy.
  • Add in the vanilla and beat until combined.
  • Begin gradually adding in the powdered sugar 1 cup at a time, stopping the mixer to scrape down the sides of the bowl after each addition. Once all of the sugar has been mixed in, the frosting will become thick and creamy. It is then ready to be spread on cakes, cupcakes and desserts right away.

Notes

This is considered a double batch of frosting. This amount is idea for layer cakes with 2-3 layers of cake, or a batch of 24 cupcakes.
If making a single layer cake or 9 x 13" sheet pan cake, I would recommend cutting the recipe in half to make a single batch.
