Amish Cinnamon Swirl Bread

– 1 cup granulated sugar – 1/2 cup vegetable oil – 1 egg large – 1 teaspoon vanilla extract – 1 cup buttermilk – 2 1/4 cups all purpose flour – 1 teaspoon baking soda – 1/4 teaspoon salt

INGREDIENTS 

Step 1: Combine Wet & Dry Ingredients

In separate bowls, combine the wet and dry ingredients. Whisk in the dry ingredients to the wet. Batter will be thick.

Step 2: Spread 1/2 Batter into Pan

Batter will be thick and smooth. To a 9x5" loaf pan, spread HALF of the batter into the bottom of the pan.

Step 3: Add cinnamon mixture

Combine the cinnamon and sugar in a small bowl. Sprinkle HALF of the cinnamon sugar mixture over the batter.

Step 4: Swirl with cinnamon sugar

Add the rest of the batter over the center layer of cinnamon sugar, then top with rest of cinnamon mixture. Using a knife, swirl the batter and cinnamon.

Step 5: Top with melted butter

Before baking, top the bread with the melted butter to give it a crisp, caramelized top after baking.

Step 6: Bake

Bake the bread for 60-70 minutes. Bread will have beautiful crisp, caramelized top.
