Coconut Glazed Chocolate Donuts

These glazed chocolate coconut donuts are just like Dunkin Donuts! Made with a simple cake mix, they're the ultimate breakfast treat for any chocolate and coconut lover.

  • Preheat oven to 350 degrees.
  • In mixing bowl combine all ingredients, and mix until smooth. Batter will be thick.
  • Place a gallon-sized resealable bag into a large glass, with the edges of the bag overlapping the side of the glass. Using a rubber scraper, spoon in the batter.

  • Once the bag is about 2/3 full, use scissors to cut the tip off of the bag, about 1/2 inch from the edge. This will create the perfect piping bag to easily fill your donut pans.

  • In a donut pan, lightly spray with non-stick spray. Fill the donut cups approximately 2/3 - 3/4 full.

  • Bake for approximately 8 minutes. Donut is done when the cake is touched and it springs back. Let cool in the pan for about 5 minutes before transferring to a cooling rack. Let the donuts cool completely before glazing.

For glazing the donuts:

  • To prepare icing, simply combine powdered sugar with milk in a bowl, like a cereal bowl. Stir to a thinner, glaze consistency add a few more drops of milk if necessary. Drop the donuts into the glaze and cover the entire surface.
  • Add the flake coconut into another bowl. Drop into the coconut, and cover all sides. Transfer back to the rack to let dry and glaze to set-up and harden slightly.

Notes

Storage: Donuts are best enjoyed the same day they are made. Store any leftover donuts in an airtight container. Donuts can be kept at room temperature, and will keep for up to 2-3 days. Donuts can be refrigerated in an airtight container. Will keep for up to 5 days refrigerated.
