I created this journal for YOU! Here's why:
Several years ago, I was at the highest weight I've ever been. It had been many months after I had given birth to my son. I was over 100 lbs heavier than the 3-sport athlete that I was a few years prior.
"How did I get to this place?", I desperately asked myself. Who is this person looking back at me? I felt completely defeated, embarrassed and ashamed of who I'd become. It was at this moment that I started taking action for my life. I started taking accountability for all the bad habits that I had developed and started replacing them with new, healthier behaviors.
Here's how I did it:
1) I gave myself the gift of time and patience. It took me nearly a decade to put ON 100 lbs, and therefore it was likely going to take me years to take it off.
2) I started setting small mini-goals for myself. These mini goals were little daily actions like "drink 80 oz. of water daily" or "30 minutes of walking every day". Over time, these mini-goals turned into monthly achievements, which then added up to big progress.
It ended up taking me 3 1/2 years to lose over 100 lbs, but that slow, steady progress was what helped me keep the weight off for over 5 years now.
I created this journal because I know there are many of you stuck in that same rut I was once in. I know how hard, frustrating and defeating it feels to want to lose weight, yet not know how to do it. Or worse yet, try and fail over and over again.
I wrote this journal to be your ladder and guide. It is your health road map to get from point A, to point Z if that's what it takes.
My hope for you when using this journal is to give yourself a fighting chance. Give yourself the gift of time and patience, be honest with yourself, and be willing to do the work of establishing new habits for yourself.
