Do you love making fudge for the holidays? It’s a wonderfully sweet, decadent treat that is fantastic for holiday parties, cookie exchanges, and makes for a wonderful gift for neighbors and coworkers.
In this post I’ll show you exactly what you’ll need to make this easy vanilla fudge recipe, how to make it, and ways to store it before your holiday events.
What do I need to make white chocolate fudge?
- White Chocolate morsels – I chose these Nestle Toll House Premiere white morsels, however any good quality white chocolate chips will do.
- Sweetened Condensed Milk – cans of sweetened condensed milk can be found in the baking aisle of your local grocery store. Be sure not to use evaporated milk, as these are NOT interchangeable.
- Vanilla extract – adding a small amount of vanilla will enhance the vanilla flavor in the fudge.
- Sprinkles (optional) – feel free to choose any sprinkles of your choosing. White pearl, Christmas, or even rainbow. The sprinkles can be coordinated with any holiday that you’re celebrating.

How do I make vanilla fudge?
Making this vanilla fudge recipe is very simple and straight-forward, as it is all done in the microwave. Start by adding the white chocolate chips and the can of sweetened condensed milk to a microwave safe bowl.
Microwave for 30 seconds, then stop to stir. Microwave for another 30 seconds and stir. If it is needed, microwave for another 15 seconds. Be sure to NOT microwave for too long, as the white chocolate will quickly become overcooked and turn dry and brown.
After microwaving, the mixture will be very thick. Continue to stir until smooth. Turn out the fudge mixture into a lined 9 x 9″ pan. Using a spatula or rubber scraper, evenly smooth out the fudge to the sides of the pan.
What toppings are best for white chocolate fudge?
Toppings for white chocolate fudge are nearly endless. I chose a white-on-white pearl sprinkle topping as a fun White Christmas themed fudge. However, any color or type of sprinkles can be used.
Other Topping Ideas for White Chocolate Fudge:
- Crushed Oreos – you could do any type of OREO – traditional, holiday OREO’s, pumpkin spice, golden, or mint.
- Christmas M&M’s – top the fudge with those pretty red and green M&M’s that everyone loves during the holidays.
- Blue and White sprinkles for Hanukkah – this would make a pretty treat for your Hanukkah celebration.
- Chopped Nuts – stir in or top with chopped almonds, pecans or even macadamia nuts.
What is the easiest way to cut fudge?
For best results in getting clean cuts and uniform squares of fudge, make sure the fudge is completely chilled and solid. Also, using a large, sharp knife will help making clean uniform cuts easier.
When making cuts, it is helpful to rinse the knife in warm water, then wipe clean with a paper towel. This will help prevent any fudge from sticking to the knife.
How do I store fudge?
If you’re making fudge in advance of a holiday party or get-together, it is best to store fudge in an airtight container to prevent the fudge from becoming dry. I recommend making fudge, cutting into squares and storing in a freezer bag or container in your freezer.
Separating the layers of fudge with waxed or parchment paper will help prevent the fudge from sticking together.

Frequently asked questions about making a vanilla fudge recipe:
White chocolate fudge is simply white chocolate that has been melted and combined with sweetened condensed milk to create a thick, white fudge candy. It is often served as Christmas as a candy treat.
Microwave in short 30 second increments, stirring well after each 30 seconds. You should only need to microwave for 1 minute – 1:15 seconds total. DONT overcook or over-microwave for any longer, as the white chocolate will easily burn and become dried out.
I recommend using a square 9 x 9 pan that has been lined with waxed or parchment paper. When lining the pan, use a large enough piece of waxed paper so that the excess can be folded over the edges of the pan. This will help to lift the fudge out of the pan to make cutting easy.

Vanilla Fudge Recipe
Equipment
- 9 x 9 Pan Ideal for making fudge, this square pan will help give you uniform squares of fudge every time.
- Parchment Paper Sheets Fantastic for lining pans!
- Santoku Knife A great tool when cutting fudge.
Ingredients
- 2 12 oz. pkgs. white chocolate chips 24 oz. total
- 1 14 oz. can sweetened condensed milk
- 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
- sprinkles of your choice
Instructions
- Line a 9 x 9" square pan with waxed or parchment paper. It helps to secure the paper with binder clips to help the paper stay in place. Set prepared pan aside.
- To a microwave safe bowl, add the white chocolate chips and entire can of sweetened condensed milk. Microwave for 30 seconds. Using a rubber scraper stir the mixture. Return to the microwave and cook for another 30 seconds. Stop and stir well. If needed microwave for another 15 seconds and stir. Be very careful to not overcook/overheat the white chocolate, as it will overbrown and become dry and brittle.
- Once fully smooth, stir in the vanilla extract. Mixture will be VERY thick. Spread into the prepared pan. You will need to work quickly. While the fudge is still slightly soft, add your desired sprinkles or toppings.
- Place the fudge into the refrigerator to chill and set for 6-8 hours. Once completely cooled, cut into 64, 1" squares. (Lines of 8 x 8.)
- Serve or store in a freezer bag or resealable freezer container.
