Are you drinking enough water? Does regular, plain water get boring after a while. A great option to change up the flavor of your drinking water is to add citrus and herbs.
This rosemary water recipe is super simple and a great option to keep in your refrigerator when you want to meet your water goal. This recipe for rosemary water needs just rosemary and fresh citrus. Keep a pitcher in your refrigerator and refill your glass or tumbler often to keep you refreshed and hydrated.
What do I need to make rosemary water to drink?
To make rosemary citrus water you’ll need filtered water, fresh rosemary sprigs, a lemon, lime and orange.
Where do I get filtered water?
You can easily filter water at home by using a water filter pitcher. I’ve been using this Brita water filter pitcher for years. It fits well in your refrigerator and the filters can be found at most retailers.
You can also buy filtered water by the gallon at your local grocery store. However, the single-use plastic jug generates quite a bit of plastic. I recommend filtering it yourself. It is much more economical and better on the environment.
What’s the difference between filtered water and distilled water?
Filtered water has gone through a basic filtration process eliminating impurities and contaminates. It retains essential minerals and electrolytes and has some taste from remaining minerals. Filtered water is ideal for drinking and consuming.
Distilled water is boiled until steam is created, then condensed and captured in a container. This water is not ideal for drinking as the boiling process takes out all minerals, salt and electrolytes and leaves an undesirable taste. Distilled water, although safe to drink, is not intended for drinking. It’s primary purpose is for use in appliances and machinery.
How do I make rosemary water to drink?
To a large water pitcher, add fresh rosemary sprigs along with the sliced lemon, lime and orange. You could also add a sliced grapefruit, if you like the flavor.
Pour cold, filtered water over the rosemary and sliced citrus. Let the rosemary water steep to allow the citrus juices and rosemary infuse the water.
Refrigerate the water and refill your water glass or tumbler thought the day to stay hydrated.

What can I add to water to make it taste better?
In addition to rosemary and citrus, you can add other fruits and vegetables to your water to add flavor. Some enjoy fresh sliced cucumbers, strawberries, raspberries, watermelon, cantaloupe, honeydew melon, and fresh herbs like basil and oregano. Try this cucumber water recipe by Eating On A Dime.
How long does rosemary infused water last?
Rosemary water will last for up to three days when kept refrigerated. I personally like to keep it only 24 hours, as the citrus rinds can begin to make the water bitter overtime.

Trying to taste this one in my mind. I have certainly had drinks with mint in them, so why not rosemary??? Hmmmm, still thinking lol. Not too “piney?” I actually have some rosemary at the moment. Going out shortly, but I’ll have to give this one a try when I get home. 🙂 [#TastyTuesdays]

Hi Chris! Nope, it was not piney at all. I drank about 40 oz. of it today, and the two stems gave it a very subtle, mild flavor. Not piney or overpowering. Definitely give it a try. Start with a small amount, as you can always add more if you feel you need more rosemary. Good luck and enjoy! ~Erin
