Making these fun Jumbo Chocolate Covered Pretzel Hearts is fun and simple. You just need a few ingredients: large (pub-style or sourdough) pretzels, chocolate and/or vanilla flavored dipping chocolate, and an 8 oz. bag of the M&M’s® Strawberry candies.
Start by laying down a sheet of waxed paper on your work surface. Next, melt the dipping chocolate according to the package directions (I melted mine in the microwave for about 1 minute.) Submerge each pretzel into the chocolate so it’s completely covered. Lift out with a fork or spatula, and lay on the waxed paper. While the chocolate is still wet, add the M&M’s® along the edge of the pretzel to make a heart shape. Let the chocolate cool completely. I worked with three pretzels at a time, as the chocolate begins to harden quickly.
As you can see, the M&M’s® Strawberry candies come in three colors, so I decided to make three colors of hearts, with the chocolate and vanilla dipping chocolate. Feel free to arrange the M&M’s® in any color combination or assortment you wish.
Once the chocolate on the pretzels cool and harden, you’ll be able to peel the pretzels right off the waxed paper. Make extra, as you’ll definitely want to have plenty on hand for snacking! The flavor of the Strawberry M&M’s® go great with the dipping chocolate and the crunch of the pretzels.
Once the pretzels cooled, I placed them into DOVE® Valentine’s Day along with the pretty DOVE® milk chocolates. Wow!! The teachers will LOVE this yummy gift! It looks so pretty!
I also made sure to add a couple of cards for Harrison’s teachers. They work really hard, and nice note to let them know how much we love and appreciate all they do is a nice gesture and a wonderful way to express our gratitude.
Here’s the complete recipe for my Jumbo Chocolate Covered Pretzel Hearts:
- 12 - jumbo, pub-style pretzels
- 16 oz of dipping chocolate (or 8 oz each of chocolate and vanilla)
- 1 (8 oz.) bag of M&M's® Strawberry candies
- Start by laying down a sheet of waxed paper on your work surface.
- Melt the dipping chocolate according to the package directions (I melted mine in the microwave for about 1 minute for each 8 oz bowl of chocolate.) Submerge each pretzel into the melted chocolate so it's completely covered. Lift out with a fork or spatula, and gently shake off any excess chocolate. Lay the pretzel on the waxed paper. While the chocolate is still wet, add the M&M's® along the edge of the pretzel to make a heart shape. Let the chocolate cool and set completely, for at least 30-60 minutes.
