The perfect apple cocktail to enjoy on a crisp autumn day! My Apple Ginger Moscow Mule is made with spiced apple cider, Ginger liqueur, Ginger beer, and topped with a fresh, crisp Granny Smith Apple slice! How ’bout them apples?!
Do you and your family go apple-picking? Apple picking wasn’t something I had even heard of until I had a family, and then moved to the East Coast. I quickly discovered that apple-picking is the all-American thing to do in the fall. It’s a nice way to spend a fall afternoon, and an even better way to enjoy fresh, local produce at its peak freshness!
A few years ago we made our way to a local orchard, and picked more than our fare share of apples, and even brought home some delicious spiced apple cider. With my bounty of apples, I made all kinds of yummy recipes, like my Dutch Apple Tart, Frosted Apple Cinnamon Snack Cake, and even Smokey Apple and Bacon Quesadillas. I had yet to make a yummy apple cocktail, until now!
This cold, crisp Apple Ginger Moscow Mule is an amazing way to enjoy both fresh apples AND the spiced apple cider that you would typically bring home from apple-picking. In addition to the cider, this Moscow Mule also includes ginger beer and Ginger liqueur. The Ginger liqueur that I used for this cocktail was actually a local product that I recently discovered on a trip in West Virginia.
This artisan Ginger Liqueur is made by the Bloomery SweetShine Distillery in Charles Town, WV. My food-blogger friends and I actually took a tour of the distillery and not only learned how this fabulous “sweet shine” is made, but got to help bottle, and even sample this locally farmed concoction. The flavors of this Ginger liqueur are amazing! In addition to the Ginger flavor, they also make Hard Lemonade, Black Walnut, Pumpkin, Peach, Chocolate Raspberry, Raspberry Lemon, Lemoncello, and Cranberry Clementine. Next time you’re looking for a delicious flavored liqueur, be sure to look for Bloomery Sweet Shine.
As soon as I tried that delicious Ginger liqueur I knew I had to make a delicious Moscow Mule, pairing it with spiced cider, and ginger beer. The flavors are amazing together, and when topped with a fresh apple slice and a cinnamon stick, you’ll quickly discover this drink to be a new fall favorite.

I hope this cocktail inspires you to get out to your local orchards, and enjoy all of the fresh fall flavors your area has to offer!
