When I was working on my own health and losing over 100 pounds, one of the biggest changes I made was getting real about my snacking. Not only was I snacking too often, I was consuming things that were overly processed and made me feel slugish and tired. Store-bought ranch dip was a staple in our house, and once I started reading ingredient labels I was genuinely shocked by what was in it. I started making this Greek yogurt version instead, and it’s been in my weekly meal prep rotation ever since. My son eats it without knowing the difference, and I love that I can feel good about what I’m putting in front of him.
This Greek Yogurt Veggie Dip is a much better option for snacking on fresh veggies. Made with just 5 ingredients and no added oils, this Greek Yogurt Ranch Dip will have you never buying the bottled, store-bought stuff again.
What do I need to make Greek yogurt dip?
Here’s a quick reference check list of the ingredients you’ll need to make this dip:
- Plain, full-fat Greek yogurt – I use and enjoy Fage 2% or 5% plain Greek yogurt
- Garlic salt
- Onion powder
- Dried parsley
- Ground black pepper
Here are some ingredient variations and mix-ins that would work well:
- Minced Fresh Dill & Minced Cucumber – mixing these extra ingredients would create a fantastic Tzatziki sauce, great in pitas and other Greek dishes.
- Fresh lemon juice and lemon zest – these would give the dip a fresh lemon flavor, and would work well paired with tuna or other fish dishes.
- Hot sauce – mixing in your preferred hot sauce would give it a great spice.
- White Vinegar – mixing in 1-2 tablespoons of white vinegar to about 2 tablespoons of the dip creates a fantastic ranch salad dressing. I do this often when I need a quick and simple dressing for salad for lunch.
For exact ingredient amounts and full recipe instructions be sure to reference the recipe at the bottom of this post.
Bonuses to making your own ranch dip: you’ll save money not buying mixes, bottled dressing and tubs of processed dip. The spices and yogurt go a long way and are much more economical compared to the processed stuff.
How do I make Greek yogurt ranch dip?
This Greek yogurt veggie dip comes together in less than 5 minutes. Simply stir in the garlic salt, dried parsley, onion powder and black pepper to the Greek yogurt. You now have a simple, healthy veggie dip ready to go for snacking.
What type of yogurt should I use for yogurt dip?
I use and prefer full-fat (2% or 5%) Fage Greek yogurt. We need good fats in our diet. Fat helps keep us full, satiated, and aids in digestion and brain function. Additionally, a two-tablespoon serving has 3g of protein compared to essentially zero in store-bought ranch dip. The probiotics are real. The fat content in 2% or 5% Fage is genuinely beneficial, and even helps it give a thick and creamy consistency.
What do I serve with ranch dip?
Serve this simple, healthy Greek yogurt dip with all of your favorite fresh vegetables. Fresh carrots, broccoli, celery, cucumbers, bell peppers, cauliflower and snow peas are delicious with dip. This is also great for bringing to a party where you would like a healthy option.
Serving this dip alongside some other hearty snacks, like potato wedges, meatballs and sliders would be a great option. Here are some great snacks and appetizers that this ranch dip goes great with:

How to build a healthy veggie tray
Building a healthy veggie tray is a great way to provide healthy snack options for a party or gathering. First, start with a medium sized bowl of the dip – this can be placed in the center of the tray or off to the side. Next, begin adding sections of vegetables all around the dip container. Most popular would be carrot chips or baby carrots, celery sticks, and broccoli and cauliflower florets. Some other great vegetables to add color and crunch would be bell pepper slices, sugar snap peas, cherry tomatoes and sliced cucumbers.
How do I meal prep this Greek Yogurt Ranch Dip?
Find a container that works for you. I like these Snack Attack Containers by Sistema. (pictured below).
These containers have large section for veggies and a smaller section for dip. The lid seals tightly with side clamps, making it nearly leak-proof. This container is perfect for packing in a lunchbox. It’s also a great way to plan ahead when you know you’ll want and need a healthy snack.
How often and when I prep this dip:
I will typically mix up this Greek yogurt dip on a Sunday afternoon after prepping my vegetables that I brought home from the grocery store. I keep one medium sized container in the fridge and bring it out with the vegetables at lunch or anytime we’re feeling snacky.
How long does Greek yogurt veggie dip last?
When stored in an airtight container, Greek yogurt dip will last up to 5 days past the sell-by date listed on the Greek yogurt packaging. Once mixed, a container of homemade yogurt dip will keep 5-7 days refrigerated. Typically, the dip doesn’t last this long at our house – it is usually eaten within a couple days.
FAQ’s about Greek Yogurt Ranch dip:
Yes. Greek yogurt is higher in protein and lower in fat than sour cream. Overall, Greek yogurt is a good substitution to use instead of sour cream in most recipes.
Most store-bought ranch dips are less healthy than homemade dip. Most store-bought dips have numerous preservatives, additives, artificial flavors and added sugars to enhance the flavor. These typically increase the calories and are considered unhealthy ingredients. It is best to make your own ranch dip with Greek yogurt.
Cucumbers, carrots, celery, broccoli, sliced bell peppers, cherry tomatoes, sugar snap peas and cauliflower are just a few vegetables that go well with dip.
A great way to eat and enjoy raw vegetables is to have them already pre-washed, cut and refrigerated. Enjoy with homemade Greek yogurt ranch dip for a healthy snack.
