Do you absolutely love the creamy, spicy flavors of buffalo chicken dip, but not all the calories and fat? This high protein, healthier buffalo chicken dip recipe is a great option. Made with just 5 ingredients, this high protein buffalo chicken dip has 27 grams of protein per serving.
Ideal for a party, this chicken dip is served hot. I’ve included options to make it in the oven or in a slow cooker to keep warm for a party.

What do I need to make high protein buffalo chicken dip?
- Pre-cooked, shredded chicken – I like to buy pre-cooked pulled chicken at Costco. This is rotisserie chicken that is all white meat. You could use any precooked chicken, either store-bought or homecooked.
- Cottage cheese – I use a low-fat, 2% cottage cheese for this recipe. You could use full-fat, but I don’t recommend fat-free cottage cheese. To achieve a creamier dip, you can blend the cottage cheese.
- Hot Sauce – we love Frank’s Red Hot Sauce at our house. It’s a great all-purpose hot sauce. Feel free to use your preferred buffalo hot sauce.
- Shredded cheese – Cheddar cheese is ideal, or you could use a cheddar jack blend or a blend of white and sharp cheddar cheeses. Any mixture of cheeses will work well, including reduced fat cheese.
- Garlic powder – ideal seasoning for this buffalo chicken dip.

How do I make this high protein buffalo chicken dip recipe?
This chicken dip is really easy to make. Simply combine all 5 ingredients in a mixing bowl; the chicken, cottage cheese, hot sauce, shredded cheese and garlic powder. Stir together well so that the buffalo sauce is coating all of the ingredients.
Pro-Tip: Do you prefer a creamier dip? To create a creamier dip texture, blend your cottage cheese in a blender or food processor to eliminate the curd texture. I don’t mind the chunky cottage cheese texture, so I kept it as is.

Ingredient Substitutions and Recommendations:
- Blue cheese or blue cheese dressing – many people love blue cheese dressing with their buffalo wings. Topping your dip with blue cheese crumbles or a drizzle of blue cheese dressing would be a great flavor enhancer.
- Green onions – a nice pop of zesty green is a great way to top your dip just before serving.
- Extra hot sauce – top your dip with extra hot sauce if you love your dip extra spicy.
