What do I need to make salmon bites?
- Skinless salmon – you can find salmon that has had the skin removed, either in the freezer rection or sold fresh in the seafood department.
- Olive oil – used for sautéing the salmon bites.
- Spice – you’ll need paprika, garlic powder, onion powder, black pepper and garlic salt. These will be sprinkled on the salmon just before cooking.
Ingredients for honey garlic sauce:
- Honey – I like buying honey at Costco, which typically has the best price. Check out the 15 Things I Buy at Costco for Healthy Meals and Snacks.
- Soy Sauce – feel free to use low-sodium, or regular soy sauce.
- Rice Vinegar – often used in Asian cooking, rice vinegar will cut the sweetness of the honey and add a slight tanginess to the sauce.
- Sesame oil – adds an amazing flavor to the sauce.
- Minced garlic – I buy pre-minced garlic in the jar to help save time. However, feel free to mince your own garlic cloves.
- Fresh ginger – will add a fantastic fresh flavor to the sauce. If you don’t have fresh ginger available, fee free to use dried ginger.

How do I make crispy salmon bites?
Begin by cutting your salmon filets into 1 inch cubes. If your salmon filets have skin, you’ll need to remove the skin before cutting.
Once cut, use paper towels to dry the salmon bites on all sides. This is critical in achieving the crispy outside of the salmon.
In a small bowl, combine the paprika, garlic powder, onion powder, pepper and garlic salt. Stir together to combine. Sprinkle over the salmon bites, turning the salmon to coat all sides with the spice mixture.

How do I make fried salmon bites?
Heat a non-stick skillet over medium-high heat. Add in the olive oil and let heat.
Working in two batches, cook the salmon bites turning after just 2-3 minutes. Cooking at a higher temperature will help achieve a crispy sear on the outside of the salmon pieces. Working in smaller batches will help prevent over-crowding in the pan and will help the salmon bites cook evenly.
Once the bites have seared on each side, transfer to a paper towel lined plate, and repeat the process with the second batch of salmon.

How do I make the honey garlic sauce for salmon bites?
In a small bowl, whisk together the honey, soy sauce, vinegar, oil, garlic and ginger. Pour into the same skillet that you cooked the salmon bites. Heat over medium heat.
Bring the sauce to a low simmer for 4-5 minutes, stirring continually. The sauce will begin to reduce and thicken. Reduce the heat to low.
Add the salmon bites back to the pan with the sauce, and toss in the sauce to coat.
What can I serve with fried salmon bites?
These salmon bites are great served over white or brown rice. Here are some great side dish suggestions that would go perfectly with the salmon:

Frequently asked questions about making salmon:
Choose wild caught salmon if your budget will allow. Wild-caught is not artificially colored or is more nutritionally dense, as it contains more minerals like potassium and zinc.
Salmon will keep 1-2 days raw or thawed, and 3-4 days if it is cooked. Be sure to store in an airtight container.
Yes, salmon can have bones called pin bones. These are very thin bones that can be up to 1-2″ long. Most bones are removed before being sold, but some bones can still remain.

- Glass Mixing Bowls Ideal for cooking and baking, and great for anything that needs to go into a microwave.
Ingredients
- 1 1/2 lbs. skinless salmon filets cut into 1" cubes
- 2 Tablespoons olive oil
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1 teaspoon onion powder
- 1 teaspoon paprika
- 1 teaspoon garlic salt
- 1/2 teaspoon ground pepper
Honey Garlic Sauce:
- 3 Tablespoons honey
- 3 Tablespoons soy sauce low-sodium or regular
- 2 Tablespoons rice vinegar
- 1 Tablespoon minced garlic
- 2 teaspoons fresh ginger grated
Instructions
- Cut salmon into 1" cubes. If skin is still on salmon, remove skin with knife. Transfer cubes to a paper-towel lined pan. Thoroughly pat salmon pieces dry with paper towels.
- In small bowl, combine spices; garlic powder, onion powder, paprika, pepper and garlic salt. Stir together. Sprinkle spices over the salmon pieces, making sure to turn the salmon so that all sides are evenly spices.
- Heat a large non-stick skillet on medium-high heat. Add the olive oil. To the hot skillet add HALF of the salmon pieces. (You'll want to cook the salmon pieces in two batches to ensure even cooking.) Cook on one side of the salmon for 2-3 minutes, turn pieces over to sear on the other side. Pieces should have a golden brown sear. Transfer cooked salmon bites to a paper towel lined plate. Repeat process with second batch of salmon pieces.
For the Honey Garlic Sauce:
- In a small bowl whisk together the honey, soy sauce, vinegar, sesame oil, garlic and ginger. Heat the same skillet that you cooked the salmon in to medium heat. Pour in the sauce and continually stir with a rubber scraper for 4-5 minutes. Sauce will begin to thicken. Once the sauce has thickened, add the crispy salmon pieces back into the pan with the sauce. Coat the salmon bites in the sauce.
- Optionally, garnish with sesame seeds or chopped chives. Serve and enjoy!
