Spiked White Hot Chocolate recipe – Two Ways!
As I write this, the wind is howling! A cold front has just moved in, and the weather has turned from warm and beautiful to blustery and brutal. The frigid, biting wind is literally taking our garbage bins and tossing them down the street like a golf ball down the middle of a fairway.
As I go chasing what is left of the bins and bring them back into our garage, I can help but feel the wind bite right through my sweater all the way to my bones.
It’s definitely time for a comforting, delicious Spiked White Hot Chocolate!
How to make this Spiked White Hot Chocolate recipe:
This Spiked White Hot Chocolate couldn’t be more simple to make! It’s comes together with milk, white chocolate chips, sugar, and a pinch of salt. (Don’t leave out the salt – it really helps bring out the flavors of the chocolate!)
Heat these together in a saucepan over medium low heat, whisking together has the chocolate melts and sugar dissolves into the milk. Make sure to keep the heat low, and don’t let the milk boil rapidly – the milk and chocolate will burn to the bottom of the pan. Let it come to a low simmer, while whisking continuously. After simmering for about a minute, remove from the heat.
Choose your liqueur
This recipe will make enough for 3 medium mugs, or two large mugs of white hot chocolate. Before ladling, choose which liqueur you’re going to enjoy – I personally LOVE both the Rum Chata and the Caramel Baileys!
Both of these creamy liqueurs are perfect with the white hot chocolate – perhaps give them both a try, and see which you like the best. Before ladling the hot chocolate into the mugs, add 1 1/2 shots (1 1/2 oz.) of the liqueur into each mug, and then top with the hot liquid.
Topping your Spiked White Hot Chocolate
I’m personally a whipped cream on my hot chocolate kinda person, however, if you are more partial to marshmallows, top your hot chocolate with a big handful.
If I’m gonna have a rich, decadent cut of hot chocolate, I’m going all in! I’m putting all of the toppings on my hot chocolate it can possibly hold – lots of whipped cream and more white chocolate chunks. Try my homemade Cool Whip, as it makes for a fantastic topping for hot chocolate.
If you’ve chose to go with the Caramel Baileys, definitely top off your hot chocolate with an ample drizzle of caramel sauce!
Spiked White Hot Chocolate – perfect for binge watching your favorite show!
This is such a fantastic drink to enjoy anytime the weather is cold. I love to get the fireplace going, put on my favorite fuzzy slippers and cuddle up with a big blanket and this drink!
This is one of my absolute favorite ways to enjoy a cold night in. Maybe watching old episodes of The Gilmore Girls, Downton Abby or maybe something new that I have yet to get completely obsessed with.
Speaking of The Gilmore Girls, I’m anxiously anticipating one of my all-time favorite shows coming back to Netflix. (If you’re not familiar, make this drink, and then go directly to Netflix and find the first season and start watching! It’s sooooooooo good!)
So, yeah – I’m literally counting down the days until Netflix releases the 4-episode series follow up. I have a feeling Lorelai and Rory would love this Spiked White Hot Chocolate. I think they would especially love them with a side of marshmallows, Pop Tarts and Twizzlers?!
