Saint Nickarita Christmas Margarita, cranberry margarita recipe

The BEST Cranberry Margarita for the Holidays!

Do you have any Christmas parties or holiday gatherings coming up?  Could you use some fresh, new ideas for holiday cocktails that don’t involve eggnog?

If you answered yes, then you’re definitely in the right place!  This Saint Nickarita is not only the perfect holiday libation, it’s festive, easy to make and wonderfully delicious!

Here’s how this simple, delicious Christmas Margarita is made:

Cranberry and lime flavors come together with tequila for the most amazing holiday cocktail! Perfect for all of your Christmas parties and holiday gatherings, this easy, delicious margarita is perfect for enjoying under the mistletoe!

How do you make a Saint Nickarita Cranberry Margarita?

Start by filling a cocktail shaker with ice. Add the tequila, lime juice, cranberry juice, and Cointreau. Fit the shaker with a tight-fitting lid, and shake to combine. Pour into a margarita glass (rimmed with salt, or without) and top off with club soda, if desired.

What fruit do I need for a Cranberry margarita?

For a cranberry margarita, you’ll need limes (for fresh lime juice) and some fresh cranberries. These are optional, but add some nice color as a garnish to the glass.

When should I serve a Christmas margarita?

Christmas margaritas are perfect to serve for a holiday or New Years Eve party.

The past few years I’ve hosted a little holiday party at our house.  I invite a few of our friends and neighbors over for some food, drinks and holiday cheer.  It’s nothing fancy, but I do serve some appetizers and cocktails along with a dinner.  It’s our way of showing our friends how much we love and appreciate them.

At my party last year I had a holiday themed cocktail that I made in advance and chilled for the party.  Having a great holiday cocktail really sets the mood for the evening and is also a nice change of pace from the standard beer and wine.

I made a big pitcher of the cocktail, which worked wonderfully, as I didn’t have to tend to the cocktail shaker for the entire evening.  Having it prepared in advance allowed our guests to serve themselves and freed me up to socialize.

What kind of alcohol is margarita?

The primary alcohol in a margarita is tequila. Often, margarita recipes also call for an orange or citrus liqueur, like Cointreau.

Is Triple Sec necessary for margaritas?

No, triple sec is not necessary for margaritas. You can substitute Cointreau, which is a citrus, orange liqueur.

Hi Jen, Maybe try adding a bit more pomegranate juice. Also, depending on the light, and photo editing, color can sometimes be a bit more saturated in my photos. Either way, I hope it tasted yummy! Happy Holidays – Erin

Sorry – I’m thinking of another cocktail on my site (my Pomegranate Citrus Champagne Cocktails). Haha!! Try adding a bit more cranberry juice for a darker red color, but I would go with what tastes the best to you over color. Enjoy! Erin

Fresh is best. If needing to do bottled juice, go with an unsweetened juice, which will give you the best flavor. Enjoy!
