Do you love ordering a Starbucks vanilla bean frappuccino, but not all the calories, sugar and fat that come with it? Thanks to my easy no coffee, skinny Starbucks vanilla bean frappuccino recipe, you can now quickly make it at home with no ice cream. Both classic and skinny options!

Making a Skinny Vanilla Bean Frappuccino at home

During my 100 lb. weight loss journey, I quickly discovered that my love of Starbucks drinks was getting me no where with my weight loss goals. Typically, a Grande vanilla bean frappuccino has about 380 calories and a staggering 52 grams of sugar. These sugar-heavy drinks were getting in the way of me making progress on my weight loss goals. I didn’t want to completely deprive myself of an occasional treat, so I had to improvise with making something lighter, but with the same flavor.

With my simple, 6-ingredient vanilla bean frappuccino recipe, I found a great compromise. I found a way to use vanilla Greek yogurt, no sugar sweetener, milk and vanilla bean paste to create that same Starbucks flavor for a fraction of the calories. This no ice cream vanilla bean frappuccino recipe has all the flavor of the classic recipe, but with much less sugar and fat.

Making a Kid Friendly Vanilla Bean Frappuccino without Coffee

This vanilla bean frappuccino is a Starbucks drink that does not contain coffee or caffeine, making it a great kid-friendly drink. Similar to a vanilla milkshake, it offers great vanilla flavor with a thick and creamy texture.

Making the classic Starbucks version uses ice cream – whereas my no ice cream version swaps in vanilla Greek yogurt. Whichever way you choose, you can save some money by making this classic vanilla bean creame frappuccino at home for pennies on the dollar.

What do I need to make a Starbucks Vanilla Bean Frappuccino at home?

  • Ice
  • Whole milk
  • Vanilla bean ice cream
  • Sugar
  • Vanilla paste (you can also use vanilla extract, if paste isn’t available)
  • Whipped cream for topping

For making a skinny version, here’s a vanilla bean frappuccino no ice cream:

  • Ice
  • Unsweetened vanilla almond milk
  • Low/No sugar vanilla yogurt, like Chobani Zero
  • Granular monk fruit sweetener, like Whole Earth
  • Vanilla paste (or vanilla extract)
  • Whipped cream for topping – you can also use my Homemade Cool Whip recipe, which is fantastic topping for Frappuccino’s!

How do I make a vanilla bean frappuccino without coffee?

Making a frappuccino at home is very easy. Simply add the ice, ice cream (or yogurt), milk, sugar (or sweetener), and vanilla paste to your blender. On medium-high speed, blend the ingredients until the ice is pureed and all ingredients are a creamy consistency.

Blending should only take about 30-45 seconds on medium-high. Once completely blended, pour into a glass and top with whipped cream, if desired. Enjoy your frappuccino right away while cold.

Needed Tool: Blender

I use and enjoy this Blendtec Designer Series Blender for all of my smoothies, frappuccinos and protein shakes. It has come to be a very versatile tool in my kitchen, as I make everything from blender muffins and pancakes and even nut butter with this powerful blender.

A blender can also be used as a milk frother. These drinks are perfect with frothed milk:

  • Chai Tea Latte
  • Caramel Brulee Latte
  • Starbucks Salted Caramel Mocha
  • Eggnog Latte
  • Skinny Peppermint Mocha

Ingredient Substitutions and Recommendations:

  • Milk: for the classic version, I recommend using whole, dairy milk. However, for both classic and skinny versions you can substitute your preferred dairy or plant-based milk.
  • Sugar or Sweetener: for the classic version, I used regular granulated sugar. For the skinny version, I recommend a granular OR liquid sweetener. I use and enjoy Whole Earth granular monk fruit sweetener or Sweet Drops, Vanilla Cream liquid stevia drops. Both are great non-sugar options. Because personal preferences vary greatly, I recommend starting with a small amount of sweetener, and add more to reach your desired sweetness level.
  • Vanilla Paste: I chose to use vanilla paste, as it is contains real vanilla caviar from vanilla beans. This provides a superior vanilla flavor in its purest form. Paste is also less expensive than scraping a single vanilla bean, and you can use an exact amount. I used Taylor and Colledge Organic Vanilla Bean Paste from Amazon, which is pretty economical. You can also substitute vanilla extract instead of vanilla bean paste.
  • Xanthan Gum: Xanathan gum is a natural thickening agent used in many Starbucks frappuccinos and drinks. It helps create a thick and creamy consistency. In the recipe I give you the option of adding in one teaspoon to help create a thick, smooth and creamy frappuccino.
