What do I need to make steak chili?
Here’s a quick reference check list of the items you’ll need to make this chili recipe. I’ve linked my favorite ingredients to Target. If you need to make a last-minute grocery run Target offers in-store pick-up or Target drive-up same day, often in just a few hours.
- Sirloin – sirloin is ideal for making steak chili. You could also use chuck roast for a more economical option. You can also buy pre-cut sirloin, which is a great time saver.
- Olive oil – you’ll need olive oil to sauté the peppers and onions.
- Chipotle peppers in adobo sauce – these come in a small 7 oz. can. I like the Goya brand, but any can of chipotle peppers in adobo sauce will do.
- Yellow onion – a medium yellow or sweet onion is great in chili.
- Green bell pepper – green bell pepper is an essential ingredient in almost any chili recipe.
- Red kidney beans – kidney beans are very traditional in most chili recipes. They offer great protein and fiber in this steak chili recipe.
- Great Northern beans – another good staple for any chili recipe, Great Northern beans offer a nice contrast as a white bean in this mostly red chili.
- Canned tomato sauce – tomato sauce is an essential ingredient in almost all chili recipes. I look for tomato sauce that has no added sugar.
- Canned diced tomatoes – a can of petite diced tomatoes is idea for this chili.
- Chili powder – chili powder an essential spice in just about any chili recipe.
- Cumin – traditionally used in Mexican cooking, cumin is a fantastic spice that adds a nice depth of flavor.
- Onion Powder – onion powder is a great addition to the flavor of the chili.
- Garlic Salt – you could also use traditional table salt, however, garlic salt add some additional flavor that is great in this chili recipe.
